I took my bike out for a 20 mile ride today. It was great! I love my bike! I can't believe I only paid $600 for it!http://feeds.feedburner.com/SavingForAHomeOfMyOwn

On the second Saturday of the month I will update the Pocket Change Portfolio (PCP). The table below reconciles from beginning of period to end of period the PCP for September 2008, Year-To-Date (2008) and Life-To-Date. Obviously, Year-To-Date and Life-To-Date will be the same for the remainder of the year. The Portfolio Returns line provides the calculated return for the three displayed periods.

As the stock market continues to take a nose dive to the depths of despair, making a short term profit in the markets (unless you're brilliant at shorting) seems near impossible. Meanwhile, getting a loan is getting increasingly difficult now that banks have finally figured out that high-risk lending doesn't work out so well for anyone in the end (unless the government bails you out with $700 billion, but anyway).
So I'm not surprised that P2P lending is getting a lot of press these days. Just...

We're about a third of the way through October, so I thought I would check up on my October Goals.
Stick to my budget. I've been doing okay. Not fantastic, not horrible. I'm struggling to keep under my food budget.Run 5 times/week. Not so much! I've run one time this month for only 3 miles. My Nike+ just sits and collects dust. Plus, I've found a trail near my apartment (about 1 mile away) that I want to try to run on. Swim 1 time/week. I've been keeping up with this goal. Plus, I've...

I'm going to try to start tracking all of my spending and posting it on my blog! I've decided to come clean about every penny I spend. I usually check on it every few weeks, but I'm going to keep a running tally in my Moleskine.
As I've mentioned before, I will try to post three times a day on my blog. I'll make my nightly post be my detailed report of my spending for the day. I'll try to do it around 8 or 9 (depending if Gossip Girl or The Office is...

Not too long ago, the Federal Reserve could only buy Treasuries. If it injected any liquidity in to the financial markets, it was limited to reserve bank credit. Nowadays, it can give generous cash gifts to investment banks, mortgage lenders, money market funds, consumer finance companies and any other financial company it feels like bailing [...]

I just finished knitting a children's hat. Since I don't know any little kids, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. I'm going to try to start knitting more practical items....since I live in the south, I don't know what that would include. Wool Socks?http://feeds.feedburner.com/SavingForAHomeOfMyOwn

Welcome to How I Save Money!
I have recently updated my Debt Payoff Chart in the right sidebar, along with my NetWorth Chart.
The Debt Payoff Chart is hosted at the No Credit Needed Network and you can see that I now have about 40% of my debt paid off. I am slightly behind schedule since [...]
